The City of West Hollywood and its Transgender Advisory Board along with the Unique Women’s Coalition will host a Transgender Day of Remembrance Ceremony featuring speakers and a reading of names to memorialize people who have been murdered as a result of anti-transgender violence. A march will take place immediately follow the ceremony. Transgender Day of Remembrance is part of the City of West Hollywood’s recognition of Transgender Awareness Month, which is recognized throughout the United States each November.

The City of West Hollywood celebrates Transgender Awareness Month November 2019 during which the iconic Trans Flag will be flown over West Hollywood City Hall. The city will also solemnly mark Wednesday, November 20, Transgender Day of Remembrance, which will be held at the Center for Early Education, 563 North Alfred Street.

City spokesperson Sheri A. Lunn, in an emailed statement to the Los Angeles Blade Tuesday, noted that the City will launch its recognition of Transgender Awareness Month Saturday, November 2, 2019 with a Kickoff Celebration and Awards Ceremony from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

WEHOville - Christopher Street West, the nonprofit organization that stages the annual LA Pride parade and festival in West Hollywood, is no longer in the red.

A review of its 2017 tax return shows that CSW’s revenue for the year was $3.85 million and expenses were $3.48 million, leaving it ahead by $373,332. In the 2016 fiscal year, CSW saw a loss of $415,000.

Each year, the City of West Hollywood hosts its incomparable Halloween Carnaval, one of the most unique Halloween gatherings in the world.

This year’s West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval will take place on Thursday, October 31, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on a one-mile stretch of Santa Monica Boulevard between Doheny Drive and La Cienega Boulevard.

“The City of West Hollywood’s annual Halloween Carnaval is free, fun, and fabulous. It’s always one of the most exciting events of the year,” said West Hollywood Mayor John D’Amico. “Each year, tens of thousands of people craft the most amazing costumes imaginable.
